Chad Bouton
Chad Bouton is a Professor and VP of Advanced Engineering and Technology at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, where he directs the Neural Bypass and Brain-Computer Interface Lab. For 28 years, he has pioneered medical technologies, including groundbreaking work in paralysis. In 2014, his team developed a brain implant-based neural bypass, restoring movement via thought (Nature, 2016). In 2023, they announced the first double neural bypass, integrating AI and spinal stimulation to restore movement and sensation. Bouton’s work has been featured in 60 Minutes, TIME, National Geographic, and more. A National Academy of Engineering honoree, he holds 70+ patents and has founded multiple companies, including Neuvotion, Inc. His innovations have earned three R&D 100 Awards, four Innovator of the Year titles, and recognition from U.S. Congress for his contributions to medical science and technology.
