Rohan Jotwani, MD MBA

Rohan Jotwani, MD, MBA, is an academic anesthesiologist and pain medicine specialist at Weill Cornell Medicine, and practices clinically in both fields.. He also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Medical Extended Reality. In his roles as the Nanette Laitman Scholar in XR/AI and the Co-Director of the Extended Reality Anesthesiology Immersion Lab, he advances the use of extended reality to enhance medical training and patient care. Dr. Jotwani completed his anesthesiology residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell, Hospital for Special Surgery, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He further specialized with a Pain Medicine fellowship at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital. His clinical practice focuses on advanced forms of interventional and multidisciplinary pain management for patients living with acute and chronic pain conditions. His research focuses on the intersection of pain management and technology, particularly exploring virtual reality applications for chronic pain treatment and medical education. Dr. Jotwani research has been funded by Bodyswaps/Meta, the ACGME, and the Nanette Laitman foundation. His expertise has been featured in major news outlets such as The Boston Globe and The New York Times, and he has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals.
